OnlineArt.Gallery Art Competition 2023

It’s that time of the year again, and we are excited to announce that we will be hosting our Annual Art Competition again this year, only bigger and better! We have been so blessed with your support over the past year, and wish to celebrate it by introducing established talent and discovering new talent. We wish to inspire people to make, buy and fall in love with Art, and therefor want to encourage you to spread the word and take the plunge! 

Groups:

After many requests, we are happy to announce that we will have a competition for children as well this year.

Group 1: Children aged 12 – 18 years of age:

This is an open competition for anyone who is a South African Citizen, under 18 and have written consent from your parents to enter. The work you submit must be your own, original work. Our aim is to nurture a love for art with the future adults of South Africa. You will be judged by your potential, original and interesting ideas, a relevant message, representation of the theme, and demonstrating skillful execution.

• A R50 admin fee per entry is payable with submission of work. (you can submit up to 3 pieces @R50 each)
• First prize is R700 (R350 Archneer Art Supplies Store voucher, and R350 cash)

Group 2: Adults: 19 years and older:

This is an open competition for anyone who is an artist. You have to be a South African Citizen, and comply with our objective of promoting new or emerging South African artists, currently pursuing a career as a full time artist. The work you submit must be your own, original work. Our aim is to discover artists whose work shows significant potential, who has original and interesting ideas, a relevant message and demonstrates skillful execution, represent the theme, and who we could feature on our site.

• A R200 admin fee per entry is payable with submission of work. (up to 3 pieces may be submitted for this fee)
• First prize is R3,500 and a feature in our Newsletter, as well as creating a portfolio for you on our website
• Second prize is a R650 voucher from the well known art store Archneer, as well as creating a portfolio for you on our website

Theme: Hope Springs Eternal

It is human nature to always find fresh cause for optimism. In this post-pandemic world, we consider new ways to find purpose, give more attention to our mental health, and above all – continue to hope that something will happen, although it seems unlikely. What gives you hope?

Competition Rules:

• Entries are open and artwork submissions will close on 31 May 2023.
• The first round of judging will happen digitally, and only the top 20 will be required to submit their work to us for final judging.
• Winner will be announced 31 July 2023
• We will accept any size from a miniature to 2m x 2m.
• Drawing, painting, printmaking and mixed media art are all welcome.
• Work submitted must have been done within the last 12 months.
• The work must be available to be sent to us and be sold. 
• If your work is under the top 10 you agree to have us feature and sell it on our OnlineArt.Gallery website with our standard conditions for at least 3 months.
• OAG will take a 30% commission on all art sold – please calculate this into the amount you want to sell the artwork for.
• If the art is not sold after this period you must arrange for collection.
• The delivery and pick-up (of unsold artwork) is for the cost of the artist. Unsold art must be collected from OAG at the latest by the 30th of November 2023. Delivery Address: 9A Marylebone Str, Old Kent Gate, Midstream, 1692

Competition Terms & Conditions: 

• We will have a judging panel of independent professional artists and curators. The judges’ decision is final, and NO correspondence will be entered into.
• The artist grants the organizer access to use the photos of the artwork for publicity, marketing, voting platforms and to exhibit the artwork.
• The artist warrants that the artwork is original and does not constitute an infringement of copyright.
• OAG and its affiliates, employees and representatives shall not in any way be responsible for any injury, damage or loss to the artists or their work resulting from participation in this competition, and the display, exhibition, storing, use or handling of the artwork. All parties involved will protect and handle the artwork to the best of their ability, but the artist shall assume sole liability for damage of the work caused by participation. The artist waives any claim against all parties involved due to any loss or damage which may be caused by burglary, theft, fire, natural causes and or any damage. The artists understands that they can arrange for insurance of his/her work on their own behalf.
• By paying to enter the competition, the artist or guardian agrees and understands the rules of the competition and declare that they are the artist of the work submitted.
