PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!

– Print-Ready Files are setup and sized to print without additional re-formatting or editing. This means your image has to meet the following minimum requirements:

• 300 dpi at the size you want the print.
• The colour profile must be embedded in the file format.
• We accept only .jpg , .tif, or .pdf.
• Include any margin you want the print to have.

– Prepare your files at the same aspect ratio as the prints that you will order. For example, if you are ordering an 10x10cm print, please prepare your image as an 10x10cm digital file.

– Please add an extra 50 – 70mm bleed around for a canvas print.

– Choose your paper carefully. We have a beautiful range of matt, gloss, smooth textured and pearl finishes.

– It is also very helpful if you give your print file a related name that reflects the print, to avoid misunderstandings.

– Save your digital file with an embedded colour profile. If your file is not saved with an embedded colour profile, we will have no way of knowing the colour space in which it was prepared and thus prints may not accurately represent the colour of your digital files. We print what we get. Although we do our best to review the file and make sure it will print correctly, digital art and photography submission is considered “as is”, but we will always do our best to produce a fine print for artists and photographers.

– We guarantee the longevity of the print. We use the finest papers (Ilford, Tecco and Canon) and archival inks that will last at least 80 years, if not exposed to direct sunlight. If for any reason the print fades over time, we will replace it! Please note that if you provided the file, with no proofing, and you are dissatisfied with how the prints look because you expected something different, this is not part of our guarantee. Digital artists should keep in mind that while a print can be very close, it may not be identical to the way the image appears on your screen. Certain colours do not exist in the colour gamut of the printer, or may look different when they are not back-lit by a monitor.

– Our turnaround time is 3-5 days during business days depending on our queue at the time and the quantity of prints you order.  Special substrates may take longer, and the working time period begins when we have received your payment and final print-ready file. We do not do rush jobs, because all of the work we do requires attention to detail, and the more we try to rush the process, the more likely quality will suffer.

– We receive your images print-ready, and therefore do not charge a set-up fee, but we do charge R600 per hour if resizing or some editing related to size and placement is necessary (we will contact you if this is necessary.) We do not do any kind of editing on your image, so you have to make sure you are happy with the colours and quality of the image.

– We can offer a proof test print for big batches or very specific matching of colours at a fee of R250 per strip. This gives you a chance to review what your image will look like on our printers, and make changes if required. Unfortunately our proofs can’t be on a specific fine art paper of your choice, and the sizing will be random since proofs are batched with other larger print orders.

– We do not store any files after we have printed it. If you do however know that you are going to reprint that specific image regularly, please contact us and we can arrange something. We cannot be held responsible for loss of data, so make sure you have copies of your work.

– Beware of iridescent and metallic colours. They might not reproduce well using the print process. Although large format printing has a wider gamut than four plate lithography, certain colours can’t be produced with a printer. They represent reflective properties  and should be avoided. Many artists choose to embellish their giclée prints by hand with gold, silver or iridescent paint to re-create the look of these pigments in the final print. This can look very beautiful, and gives your prints a unique one of a kind quality, but depending on the level of detail it can be time-consuming too.
